We are a social enterprise — a community-driven organisation that uses samba and Afro-Brazilian culture to create positive social impact, promote inclusion, and support cultural education. Unlike traditional businesses, our focus is on benefiting people and the community rather than generating profit.
The Império da Rainha School of Brazilian Samba is the only Samba School in London with a female president, Liani Devito. Originally from Brazil and deeply connected to Samba Schools in Rio de Janeiro, such as Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, Liani founded the Império da Rainha School of Samba in 2024, along with Leila Heinel, Brian Taylor, and Alex Talbot.
The school is deeply committed to fostering a strong appreciation for Brazilian culture. Its mission is to preserve and promote the authentic cultural heritage of Brazilian samba by offering high-quality education in samba dance and music to the local community while maintaining close ties to Rio de Janeiro's Carnaval.
Through costume making, social dance, professional samba dancing, and drumming, we aim to celebrate diversity, foster community engagement, and promote physical and emotional well-being for individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
Brazilian samba lovers! This is the place to be!
Bring the joy of Brazil to your life!
